With personal debt owed by people in the UK at £1.484 trillion, our church is committed to playing its part in the community by helping people to overcome their debt problems.”

T he House Of Praise in Camberwell, part of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, pays off people’s debt.

Senior Pastor, Andrew Adeleke, said, “With personal debt owed by people in the UK at £1.484 trillion, our church is committed to playing its part in the community by helping people to overcome their debt problems.” To achieve this, the House of Praise church in partnership with Financial Peace University took radical step of taking time out from its normal services to present practical seminars in getting out of debt. At the end of each lesson or seminar, 3 delegates are selected at random to pay off their debts up to the value of £150 each on production of their bills.

Pastor Andrew, said, “I know people are thinking this is some kind of gimmick, but we are very serious about doing our bit to help people to reduce debt and encourage them to be financially independent.” "We believe that owing less money is exactly the same as having more money and is a necessary precondition for building wealth." Since the Financial Peace University series, numerous testimonies have been recorded. People are now becoming financially free with their debts reduced significantly.

Below is one of the many testimonies from a successful candidate of the Financial Peace University.

I hereby write to express my profound gratitude for the financial gift kindly given to me, to assist in reducing my debt, I am very grateful.
The Financial Peace University has been of tremendous benefit to me, providing guidance on how to handle my finances in the right way. Thus far, I have done the following:

1. Emergency Fund. This currently now stands at £400 from £20 at the start of the course. My aim is to keep building it up till it reaches a figure that can cover 3-6months expenses.

2. Bank Overdraft - I have cancelled this facility with my bank. Though I didn't use it, seeing it's availability could some day lead to temptation to spend it.

3. Next Retail Store - I had a credit account with this company, during the training I have paid off the little outstanding balance and have now changed it to a normal account (payment upfront).

4. Debt Reduction: My debt (Student Finance & Credit Card) was accrued during my college studies, which was completed in July 2016. Thankfully with a Full Time job that I started shortly afterwards, regular monthly payments are being made.

As a result the credit card debt is gradually reducing and the financial gift of the church will be used to pay off part of it. The proof of payment will be sent immediately the cheque clears and payment made to my creditor.

I am so grateful for being a part of this invaluable FPU training and my earnest prayers for myself and others is that very soon, we will be completely DEBT FREE.

May the good Lord continue to bless you Sir & Ma and the entire members of RCCG House of Praise in Jesus Mighty name, Amen.
